Brent’s Bunch Last Dance of Season May 5 and COVID Notice

Hi Brent's Bunch Members & Guests,

This is a reminder that our last dance of this season is this Thursday, May 5, at the Burnaby Lake Pavilion.  Doors open at 7:15 pm with Plus dancing from 7:30 – 9:15 pm.  I look forward to seeing you. 

So that you can make an informed decision to attend or not, I would like you to know that I called for the Abbotsford Grand Squares on Monday, May 2, and have been informed that two people that were in attendance, but were not dancing, have since tested positive for COVID-19.  One of these persons used my microphone briefly.  I'm feeling fine, am fully vaccinated, and had COVID in January so am not too worried about myself.  I'll self-monitor for symptoms, test myself on Thursday afternoon, and not get too close to others at the hall.  We will all continue to wear masks while in the hall at all times.  As a reminder, if you feel "off" of ill in any way or have any COVID-related symptoms please stay home and see us next time.

Brent's Bunch will resume dancing in the fall on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the Burnaby Lake Pavilion.

Brent’s Bunch Change of Location for Thursday, April 21

Hi Brent's Bunch Members & Guests,

As mentioned at our last dance on March 31, the Fortis gas line construction will close the access road to the Burnaby Lake Pavilion on Thursday, April 21, so that hall is not available. 

Therefore, for Thursday, April 21, we have arranged to dance at the  

Confederation Community Centre (Activity Room) 

4585 Albert St., Burnaby, BC, V5C 2G6

As usual, doors open at 7:15 pm and we will dance Plus with Rounds from 7:30 pm to 9:15 pm.

We will return to the Burnaby Lake Pavilion on Thursday, April 28. 

The revised schedule for our remaining 3 dances this season is below.  I hope you will be able to join us for each of these.

As preferred by the majority of members, Brent's Bunch will continue to operate under our current COVID Safety Plan for the remainder of this season.  All attendees will be required to provide proof of vaccination (if not already on record) and to wear a face mask at all times while in the dance hall, including while dancing. 

 

The guest dance fee is $8.00 per person and can be paid in cash with exact change, or by debit or credit card with a chip.

Brent's Bunch is DARK April 7 and April 14, 2022

Reminder - Brent's Bunch is DARK for 2 weeks.  The hall is not available April 7, and Brent is away April 14.  We recently learned the road to the hall will be closed on April 21 and Brent & Therese are looking to see if there is another hall available.  More to follow.

 

The Royal Swingers are starting up Friday, April 8 and have reached out to see if we would like to do a club visit.  I have details for those who are interested. Please use the Contact Us section in the sidebar to request further information.

Brent’s Bunch Spring 2022 Schedule Change

Hi Brent's Bunch Members & Guests,

I was informed today by the City of Burnaby that the Fortis gas line construction will close the access road to the Burnaby Lake Pavilion on Thursday, April 7, so we will have to cancel our dance that night. 

 

To maintain our revised plan for 8 dances in this Spring 2022 session I have added an extra dance for Thursday, May 5, that will now be our last dance for this season. 

 

The revised schedule for our remaining 4 dances this season is below.  I hope you will be able to join us for each of these.

Visit to Stardowners

Thanks to the Stardowners for inviting us to visit them Thursday, when our hall was not available. Ray called a lively Plus dance. Brent guest called a tip, entertaining us with his fine rendition of September with covid lyrics. It was very nice to reconnect with old friends. Reminder: Brent's Bunch is DARK this week

Due to a rowing event, we were not able to rent Burnaby Lake Pavilion this coming Thursday night, March 24.  We will resume dancing Thursday, March 31.

You can catch Brent on Tuesday evenings at Chilliwack Rhythm Reelers. 

Two local clubs who dance Tuesday evenings have guest callers this week.  Chuck Jordan is filling in at the Singles Beginner/Mainstream dance and Krista Baird is filling in at Surrey Square Wheelers Plus dance.

Brent’s Bunch In Person Plus Dancing Resumes Thursday, February 24

Hi Brent's Bunch Members & Friends,

As you have probably heard on the news, many BC Public Health restrictions were eased last week which means that we are now able to resume square & round dancing in person. 

Therefore, I'm excited to invite you back to Brent's Bunch each Thursday evening starting this week, February 24, at the Burnaby Lake Rowing Pavilion (6871 Roberts St, Burnaby, BC, V5B 3C1).

Doors will open at 7:15pm, with Plus dancing and rounds from 7:30pm until about 9:15pm. 

The guest fee is $8.00 per person and can be paid in cash with exact change, or by debit or credit card with a chip. 

As required by BC Public Health Orders and the City of Burnaby, safety measures will still be in place and we will continue to follow our COVID safety plan put in place in the fall. 

Key components to the plan include:

• If you are experiencing any potential COVID-19 symptoms please stay home.
• Everyone entering the hall must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination in the form of a BC Vaccine Card (digital or hard copy with QR code that can be scanned) unless you are already on our verified list.
• Everyone must wear a suitable face mask at all times while inside the hall, including while dancing, except when drinking, eating, or for the caller/cuer while instructing the dance.
• Everyone must sanitize their hands when they enter the hall and must wash or sanitize their hands before each square dance tip.  Hand sanitizer will be provided.
• No food or beverages will be provided by the club.  Attendees are encouraged to bring their own water or beverage in spill-proof containers, and snacks if they wish, but do not share them with people outside your household "bubble".
• Chairs will be available around the perimeter of the hall but tables for sitting at will not be available.
