Brent's Bunch summer edition

Hi everyone,

We hope that you are all well and enjoying the warmer weather.  I wanted to apologize for not sending out a Thank you for everyone's help at Brent's 60th Celebration.  What an amazing event.  I could not have done it without you all.

Brent and I just returned from the Canadian National in Penticton and had a wonderful time. We were able to relax, dance, and meet so many dancers from all over.

Thank you to Daphne and Chuck for doing an amazing job along with the rest of the many committee members.  Brent and I are looking forward to the next one in New Brunswick in 2028.

We wanted to remind you that Dianne Allan's celebration of life will be held this Thursday at West Vancouver United Church at 2:00 p.m. for Dianne Allan  In lieu of flowers, donations in Dianne's memory may be made to North Shore Hospice.

We are planning for our September dancing so please let me know if you are wanting to attend and pay session fees or each night as a guest.  The cost should continue to be the same but I will check with the cost of the hall and then let you know when we get closer to the date.

Upcoming events:

July 26           Summer Dancing VDTCA,  Kennedy Hall,  Plus Dance Caller Brent Mawdsley

August 22      Anniversary Henry and Mee Mee, Kennedy Hall, Dinner and Dance, 4-9.
Dancing will be like Brent's First Friday Fun Night, and a demo dance.  Mee Mee has asked everyone to wear square dance clothing.  If you don't have a ticket please let me know you would like to attend.

The Flyer for more dancing at Kennedy Hall this summer is linked here and is also in the Coming Events section at right.

Thanks again for all your amazing support this year.

Very sad news - Dianne Allan

I am very sad to inform you that Dianne Allan passed away on Monday, June 15.  Dianne was a founding member of Brent's Bunch, and this is hard news.

I will send Don a card on behalf of the club.

Don also let me know that Mary Cox recently passed away.  Her obituary is also posted to the FVSRDA website In Memoriam page.

Together we grieve.

What A Party!

We had a capacity crowd of about 100 well wishers from Vernon through Olympia out to celebrate Brent turning 60. With Brent calling with a little help from his friends John Corrigan and Steve Edlund, and the lovely Erica Corsi cueing rounds, we were well entertained!

Therese did a wonderful job of decorations and pulling it all together, with big contributions from Nancy, Debra and Daphne, and something from pretty much everyone at Brent's Bunch. Even Shelley from Stardowners brought food. Lots of great costumes. We all love Brent and we hope he felt it!

Some pretty chill dudes! John, Brent, Don

Gaylene and Lynne

Gloria and Roy

Nancy made over 100 beautiful cupcakes

Sixties cookies from Daphne & her sisters

Here is a link to lots more photos.  Thanks to Debra for adding hers (they are the good ones), and to Bel for standing on a chair to get shots of the dance floor.  Although I tried to get photos of everyone, we were all moving and it didn't happen.  Thanks to all who came to celebrate Brent!

Brent’s Bunch Dance April 30, Celebrating Brent’s 60th Birthday

Come and Join us for our last dance of the season and celebrate Brent's 60th Birthday.

We will have Brent and guest callers, and Erica Corsi cueing. If you are not dancing, we would love to have you come and join us for an evening of visits and always amazing food.

Our parking is at a premium so if you are able to carpool or park on the streets in front or behind the hall that would be great. We understand for some you need to park in the lot and that’s ok.

Parking on Beresford: from the east turn left (south) on Griffiths Drive then right on Beresford. Park behind the back of the hall on the right. Walk up the ten step stairs and forward on the paved path beside the hall.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday if you can make it.

Please call if you have any questions. Therese cell 604-690-8622

Reminder: Brent's Bunch is DARK this week

Therese has asked me to remind you that Brent is away, so Brent's Bunch will not be holding a dance this week.  We will dance next week, April 23, and wind up with our Sixties Dance to celebrate Brent turning 60 on April 30.

Chuck and I, your Wagonmasters, encourage you to visit one of the many other area clubs dancing this week.  The FVSRDA website "Where to Dance" page lists all the clubs, with day of the week, time, dance level and location.  We hope you can find something that works for you!  We ourselves will be visiting the Stampede Whirlaways in Williams Lake.

Happy Dancing!
