Welcome to Brent's Bunch! Our square dance club is named for our wonderful caller, Brent Mawdsley. We dance Plus most Thursdays since January 2016, and will be at our NEW LOCATION Alan Emmott Centre, 6650 Southoaks Crescent, Burnaby starting January 25, 2024. Brent's Bunch Special Events
Hi Gang,
I thought you may like to know the dates for some special events at Brent's Bunch. Note the Train Dance will be November 10 and the Mystery Dance will be March 30.

Brent’s Bunch Update and 2016 Fall Session
I hope your summer is going well and that you are looking forward to getting back to regular dancing in September. It was great to visit with several of the Brent's Bunch gang in Penticton and see them proudly sporting their new badges.
Brent's Bunch will be dancing Plus on Thursday nights from 7:30pm up to 10:00pm at the Burnaby Lake Pavilion starting on September 15. We have 12 nights in the fall of 2016 and 13 nights in the spring of 2017 as shown in the table below.
The hall is not available September 22 due to a regatta, and Brent is not available for the three dark nights in 2017.

Summer Update
We were notified of the recent passing of Alice Fairbourn, who was a remarkable woman to her death at age 92. The following is from the FVSRDA In Memoriam page. Gaylene will provide information on the service when it is known.
Many of us celebrated Brent's 50th birthday and Amanda's graduation at the Mawdsley home on June 30. Great party!
A group of us enjoyed the Canada Day dance in Maple Ridge last night.

It's with great sadness, we inform you of the passing of long time Swinging Singles Square Dance Club member, Alice Fairbourn, in Qualicum Beach. Alice was a strong woman and fought a strong battle with her Cancer. As more information becomes available, you'll be notified.On a happier note, thanks to Robin Gentry for sending us the following link to photos from the Ice Cream Social.

If you were there, you can probably find yourself at least once. Below is one of Amanda with her well-deserved Driscoll Teen Award. That and others are part of the photos taken by Robin. Our boys Brent Mawdsley and Chuck Jordan along with Heather Wallace called a wonderful dance. Our only complaint was that they wouldn't take bribes to get our table up for ice cream sooner.

Brent's Bunch Update & Ice Cream Social Sat June 11
Hi Brent's Bunch,
I hope you're enjoying your summer. I thought you'd like a brief update.
Brent's Bunch Square Dance Club is officially registered & insured by the CSDRS. Within the next couple of weeks they say they will confirm availability for the requested 13 Thursday nights in the fall (Sept 15 - Dec 8, 2016) and 13 nights in the spring (Jan 12 - April 27, 2017).
By September the Pavilion will have air conditioning and new exterior paint and the old bleachers are supposed to be removed.
The Ice Cream Social Dance is this Saturday, June 11, at the Bonsor Recreation Center, Burnaby .
If you haven't already got tickets. I have a few more available at $15 / person. Just let me know if you want them held at the door for you.Pre-rounds at 7pm with Heather Wallace,MS with Plus Tips 7:30-9:30pm with Brent, Heather & Chuck calling,lots of great ice cream sundae's & banana splits after the dance.
We have over 16 squares sold already, including 5 squares coming from the USA, plus the FVSRDA Driscoll Award will be presented to teen dancers that have made significant contributions to square dancing and their community. It's gonna to be a great night. I hope to see you there.

May 14 Visit to Rainbow Squares
A square of us had a wonderful evening with a group dinner out followed by the Rainbow Squares spring wind-up dance, and we again celebrated Brent's 50th birthday. We had also enjoyed celebrating Brent's birthday at the Swinging Singles on Tuesday
night.
The theme of the dance was Around the World in 120 Minutes and Barbara's hot air balloon skirt was a great hit. Happily, Tom and Bea rescheduled Bea's birthday dinner so they could join us. Amanda cued, fresh from her victory at the Teen Festival as the highest level Champion Cuer and Caller. The Senior Calling Champion trophy is back in the Mawdsley household, 31 years since Brent last won it. Megan won as Junior Cueing Champion and she and her partner were the Pre-Teen Round Dance Champions.
See you on the dance floor, hopefully before September.
